the young italian is quite a big man when it comes to professional golf. he turned pro just a couple of months ago and had several times to show his playing excellence. he’s just 17 but has a course strategy and nerves like many of the “old folks” out there. it’s unbelievably impressive and quite interesting to watch him on tv: he’ so self-confident and shows so much professionalism like you would never expect from him being not even 18 years old!
today he won the castelló masters in castellón, spain with 16 under par, leading by 4 strokes and is now the youngest player ever on the european tour to win a regular professional tour event.
remember, watching him sitting next to phil mickelson at this year’s masters? lefty won in a dramatic fight and received the green jacket. manassero himself was honoured as the youngest and most successful amateur and looked like phil’s 10-year old son or smth. but don’t underestimate this boy!
what was i doing when i was at that age? and where did it take me? i think in this case it’s not a good idea to compare myself to such thriumphant youth who arrived in professional golf with waving flags but as well being so calm, considered and well playing at the same time.
matteo, you’ve got a new fan – already got a facebook page?! :) you’re awesome, kid. show the guys some golf and make yourself immortal.
