The wedding is around the corner and with it the planning for the honeymoon. We’re going to Mauritius and I can’t wait for it! The next two weeks will be absolutely hell in the office—my thoughts always circle around the wedding ceremony, the party and the honeymoon.
Mauritius is the perfect golf destination and I’m very much looking forward to the two weeks with my wife-to-be and obviously to the rounds of golf I’ve scheduled in. The missus rarely plays golf so she’s not as excited as I am but she obviously knows about my passion so I got my OK to play some rounds.
Mauritius more and more becomes famous for being the place-to-be golf destination in the Indian Ocean. That’s partly because of the superb golf courses they have there, but as well because of the numerous 5- and 6-star hotels and beach resorts. Flipping through the travel catalogues it’s sheer luxury what pleases your eyes and imagination. And that’s basically what all golfers want: sunshine, great golf courses, beautiful surroundings, pleasing amenities and outstanding service and accommodation!
The following courses are the ones which I currently have on my list for the trip. And I do hope that we can squeeze all these in!

Some of these courses are nestled within rainforest, but most of them are situated right at the coast line, offering fantastic vistas onto the Indian Ocean. I’ll have my camera ready—time to follow Golficiency on Instagram!

Anahita ist der beste auf Mauritius, allerdings auch ziemlich teuer. Touessrok ist ziemlich overrated, die Anreise mit dem Boot ist schick, aber der Platz selber sehr monoton, lange forced carries auf schmale Fairways auf fast jedem Loch und elend lange Wege zwischen den Löchern (und der Meeresblick ist ziemlich zugewuchert falls sie das nicht mittlerweile wieder ausgedünnt haben).

Danke! Auf Anahita freu ich mich schon sehr. In unserem ersten Hotel bekommen wir auch eine Greenfee-Ermäßigung für den Platz. Die Belle Mare Legends und Links sind komplett im Preis mit drin.
Dass Le Touessrok nicht einfach ist, hab ich schon gehört, aber ich lass mich selten frusten beim Golfen, daher nehme ich die Herausforderung einfach mal an… und lasse die Hölzer einfach stecken!
Tja, den Paradis Golf Club hatte ich mir auch schon mal angesehen, vor allem weil er gleich um die Ecke von unserem zweiten Hotel ist und tatsächlich schön gelegen zu sein scheint. In den einschlägigen Best-of-Listen war er allerdings nie so weit oben zu finden. Aber danke für den Hinweis – ich werde mir das nochmal genauer ansehen!
Rüdiger hat schon recht mit dem medialen Overrating von Touessrok – deshalb möchte ich da gar nicht hin. Abahita habe ich auf dem Schedule. Den Paradis habe ich schon gespielt und mach’s bald wieder ;-) – der Platz glänzt durch das abwechslungsreiche Layout und vor allen Dingen die umwerfende Lage. Ich möchte nicht als Promoter dastehen, aber fass mal den Heritage Golf Club (unweit Le Paradis) ins Auge. Dort habe ich zwei mal gespielt (und bald wieder :-)) und der gefiel mir inklusive Layout, Lage, Service, Pflege so was von. Die Entfernungen auf MU sind ja jetzt nicht so der Hinderungsgrund. LG, Thomas. (PS:: Ich bin ab Ende nächsten Monats dort – aber nicht zum Heiraten. Wieso muss man da hin zum Heiraten? Kann man auch ohne? :-))
@Thomas: Haha, man muss sicher nicht jedes Mal heiraten, um nach Mauritius zu reisen! Golf ist immer ein guter Grund, denke ich… ich freue mich auf jeden Fall schon!
Le Touessrok werde ich wohl auf jeden Fall spielen (wenn er nach einer Course Maintenance Phase überhaupt schon wieder offen ist), und dann berichten, ob du ihn beim nächsten Mal Mauritius (ohne Hochzeit) vielleicht doch mal versuchen solltest.
Le Paradis schau ich mir wie gesagt mal genauer an. Den Heritage dann eher für das nächste Mal…
