Ball Showcase: Lopesan Meloneras Golf

I wasn’t that big golf traveler in the first place, so it was kind of unusual for me to travel to places, bring clubs and look for a local golf course. The trip to the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria in this example was the first course I played outside of Germany. Lopesan is a hotel and resort company, and as I was guest in one of their beautiful hotels in Meloneras/Maspalomas (south of Gran Canaria), I decided to play a round at their attached golf course. Went there at 6.30am when nobody else was there, got a cart, played along and had a perfect time on a very beautiful course just at the coast with stunning views on the Atlantic Ocean.

It was actually the first time ever I was driving one of these golf carts if I’m not mistaken because it’s quite uncommon in Germany not to carry or pull/push your trolley on your own. But I really liked it and the course is a beauty, especially when you have the feeling you are the only one playing here.

Later I realised that Rafa Cabrera Bello, the European Tour player, is a Meloneras local and this is his home course. I find that very interesting.

Gran Canaria is not famous for its golf courses, I think there are 6 now, but if you are there and you are into golf, go check them out (probably except the Las Palmas city course)

lopesan meloneras golf

as i already mentioned in the course tracking i’m not a golf traveller yet. but i really appreciate to read about golf travelling and about new or breathtaking courses you can find around the globe.

in september i’ve been to gran canaria, spain for a 2-week vacation in quite a nice hotel. the lopesan costa meloneras resort spa & casino was in perfect shape and offered some golf packages as well. the hotel group owns the lopesan meloneras golf club, which is only 5min away from the hotel. the course is a real beauty and has a direct shore line which makes it quite impressive – at least for those who haven’t played directly at the atlantic ocean!

after i tried to make a movie of myself, i found this nice video, that can describe it much better than i could. so please enjoy the impressive scenery of southern gran canaria and imagine that it’s me, walking the fairways somewhere in the background… and no, i’m not that old man with the ugly swing! :)

the service is superb. i got rental titleist clubs, drove one of the luxury golf carts with GPS and electronic yardage book and enjoyed some perfect hours on the course.

won’t be the last time i tee off at the meloneras golf course, that’s for sure!
