Ball Showcase: Lopesan Meloneras Golf

I wasn’t that big golf traveler in the first place, so it was kind of unusual for me to travel to places, bring clubs and look for a local golf course. The trip to the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria in this example was the first course I played outside of Germany. Lopesan is a hotel and resort company, and as I was guest in one of their beautiful hotels in Meloneras/Maspalomas (south of Gran Canaria), I decided to play a round at their attached golf course. Went there at 6.30am when nobody else was there, got a cart, played along and had a perfect time on a very beautiful course just at the coast with stunning views on the Atlantic Ocean.

It was actually the first time ever I was driving one of these golf carts if I’m not mistaken because it’s quite uncommon in Germany not to carry or pull/push your trolley on your own. But I really liked it and the course is a beauty, especially when you have the feeling you are the only one playing here.

Later I realised that Rafa Cabrera Bello, the European Tour player, is a Meloneras local and this is his home course. I find that very interesting.

Gran Canaria is not famous for its golf courses, I think there are 6 now, but if you are there and you are into golf, go check them out (probably except the Las Palmas city course)
